  • International Women in Engineering Day

    On 23rd June12 Year 9 students travelled to Ford Dunton to celebrate International Women in Engineering Day, and to discover more about a potential career in Engineering. They took part in a variety of activities such as a virtual reality experience of a manufacturing plant, coding of robots, developing a model of a manufacturing production line and making purchasing decisions.  A number of inspirational female engineers spoke to the students about their experiences, highlighting the variety of opportunities offered by engineering careers and giving the students a much greater appreciation and understanding of their roles. The day also included tours of Ford’s safety and environment testing facilities, including a brief stint in their -20°C testing climate, as well as a chance to try out the test track in the newest Ford models. The students participated enthusiastically throughout and were awarded the winning prize plaque for their performance during the day.
