During the summer 23 students and 4 members of staff completed a World Challenge expedition to Nicaragua and Costa Rica, a trip lasting a month. In 2 separate groups, they worked in rural schools renovating classrooms and entertaining the children with games, crafts and competitions. Both groups embraced a challenging journey in the north of Nicaragua in the Somoto volcanos trekking across 5 volcanos in 5 days. Just for fun they went volcano boarding down Nicaragua’s newest and most active volcano, zip wiring through the stunning scenery of the cloud forests in Costa Rica, white water rafting, paddle boarding and took a boat trip to explore the beautiful islets on Lake Nicaragua. The participating students worked together to raise funds for this amazing experience, they planned their own itinerary, set goals and took on leadership roles both before and during the expedition. By taking charge, students walk away with key leadership skills which prepare them for life after school.
