Jack Petchey Public Speaking Workshop
On Thursday 23rd November, SHSG was visited by three public speaking trainers from the Jack Petchey Foundation. Ninety students worked with the trainers in a one-day workshop about how to conquer nerves when it comes to public speaking – be it speaking to hundreds of people in a public speech or a smaller group in an interview. The students all enjoyed the day and learnt many techniques about how to present themselves with confident body language and tricks for delivering well-constructed speeches. Students commented:
“I have never been the most confident person but this workshop has really made me want to improve and try public speaking. I really enjoyed myself today and would be happy to participate again” - Halle
'Very beneficial and I feel like I have conquered public speaking.’ - Ella
“Good! I opened up without getting any negative comments - only constructive. Let me become more confident.” - Isabel
We now look forward to our ‘winners’ from this workshop going forward to represent the school at the Jack Petchey Speak Out Competition at St Bernard’s School on 9th May 2018.
