Southend High School for Girls is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our students and we expect all staff, volunteers and visitors to our school to share this commitment.

The health, safety and wellbeing of every student is of paramount importance. We ensure continuous development and improvement of robust safeguarding processes and procedures that promote a culture of safeguarding amongst our staff. Our staff receive safeguarding training and are required to report any concerns to the school's safeguarding team. A copy of our safeguarding policy for 2020-2021 can be accessed below.

Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a student's welfare. The school will, in most circumstances, ensure that concerns are discussed with the student's parents/carers. However, there may be exceptional circumstances when the school may discuss concerns with Social Care and/or the Police without informing parents first, for example, if the school had reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the student's welfare.

Our Safeguarding Child Protection Policy can be downloaded below, along with safeguarding information for visitors to the school.
