Celebrating a Successful Year

SHSG concluded the academic year with a whole-school celebration assembly, recognising students’ achievements, dedication, and community spirit. Highlights included sporting success, national awards, new enrichment opportunities, and wellbeing support for the summer holidays.

House Cup Champions: Hermes Make It Four in a Row

  • Hermes House secured the 2026 House Cup.
  • Students celebrated with a reward trip to Adventure Island.
  • This marks Hermes’ fourth consecutive House Cup victory.

Sports Day 2026 Success

  • Aurora House won the Sports Day Cup 2026.
  • This was Aurora’s first-ever Sports Day victory.
  • The school also celebrated the achievements of its National Athletics Champions.

Trips Programme 2026/27 Launched

  • The full programme of educational visits and experiences for 2026/27 is now available on the SHSG website.
  • Families are advised that dates remain provisional until confirmed in individual trip communications.

National Filmmaking Award for Year 13 Student

  • Year 13 student Aurora K won the prestigious Barney Oram Creativity Award at the national MediaMag Production Competition.
  • Her music video was selected as the best film across all competition categories.
  • SHSG students also achieved multiple shortlist and nomination successes.

Healthcare Career Workshops for Years 9 and 10

  • Students can take part in practical healthcare workshops at Brentwood Community Hospital.
  • The sessions offer hands-on experience and insight into careers including nursing, midwifery, healthcare support, and therapy professions.

Parents’ Association Achievements

  • The SHSG Parents’ Association has published its Summer Newsletter showcasing fundraising and community activities.
  • Families are encouraged to learn more about supporting the school through the PA’s 200 Club lottery.

Summer Activities for Young People

  • Students can explore thousands of youth activities and opportunities across Essex through the Essex Council for Voluntary Youth Services (ECVYS).

Mental Health and Wellbeing Support

  • SHSG continues to provide mental health resources through its website and dedicated wellbeing Padlets for Lower School, Middle School, and Sixth Form students.
  • Students are encouraged to access support and wellbeing advice throughout the summer break.
