Spun Candy Masterclass
On Saturday 11th November, our year 11 food technology class participated in a Candy Making Masterclass at Spun Candy in Spitalfields Market. This involved exploring the history and science behind confectionery making. The staff explained the method of creating lollipops and showed us step by step, from boiling the sugar to adding citric acid and colourings. This was followed by a hands-on rainbow swirl lollipop making session where we used our imaginations to create shapes with the candy. We really enjoyed the experience and it was interesting to see behind the scenes of candy making and even take home any lollipops we made. Creating the shapes with the warm candy was the best part as we could make whatever we wanted including the classic lollipop swirl, a rainbow pig and stars. Overall we absolutely loved this trip and it was really sweet of our teachers Mrs Taylor and Mrs Ryan to take us!
