SHSG Success at Jack Petchey Regional Final

On Wednesday 1st May, Tess K and Shuchishmita M represented SHSG in the Regional Final of the Jack Petchey Speak Out Challenge.  The Regional Finals were held at Westcliff High School for Girls and was a fabulous evening in which talented year 10 students from nine local schools showcased their public speaking abilities.  The Jack Petchey Speak Out Challenge Foundation has worked with 588 Year 10 students across the region this year (and 90 at SHSG), and Tess and Shuchishmita were among the 17 finalists selected.

Both Tess and Shuchishmita prepared extremely well for the final and both delivered extremely confident, thoughtful and articulate speeches.

At the end of the evening, Tess K was awarded first place for her speech on 'The Bully Within.'  We now wait to see if Tess will be shortlisted to go forward and compete in the National Final in July 2019.

Miss Wilkins would like to thank both Tess and Shuchishmita for their hard work, good humour and bravery!  They were both superb and Tess's win was a fabulous ending to a great evening.
