National Youth Theatre Workshop

Sixteen of our most talented students from years 9 – 12, recently took part in a workshop and audition day with the National Youth Theatre.  The NYT have been in existence for over 60 years and  can claim credit for starting the careers of actors of the calibre of Helen Mirren.  This year the NYT auditioned thousands of hopefuls across the country  to fulfill their aim to ‘seek out the most diverse, the most talented and the most vulnerable, through an active audition programme (and) to give the unique, life-changing experience of working with some of the UK’s leading professional directors, writers, producers, designers and stage managers.’  With the volume of young people applying we hoped we might be lucky enough to get one selected from our sixteen, but we had three!   Victoria D, Sila U and Mkiyah P. These talented students are now members of the National Youth Theatre until they reach the age of 26.  We are very proud of them and of all sixteen who took part.

Piper C and Alex C are also to be congratulated for gaining coveted places with the National Youth Musical Theatre as Theatre Technician and Actor respectively. This exciting opportunity will provide each of them with invaluable professional theatre experience and Alex has already been cast in his first role in a brand new musical being created at 'The Other Palace' theatre in London.
